Dr Ian Baxter MA(Hons) [Edinb.], PhD [Cantab.], FSAScot, PIFA
Ian is a senior lecturer in the Cultural Business Group at Glasgow Caledonian University and Associate Director of the Caledonian Heritage Futures Network. He trained as an archaeologist, and has spent 20 years working with a variety of heritage and tourism organisations throughout the UK. His major interest is in the field of heritage policy development, and methodologies for assissing the 'state of the historic environment'. He was a lead consultant supporting the establishment of English Heritage’s Heritage Counts programme and has also supported Historic Scotland’s Scottish Historic Environment Audit programme.
He is a member of a number of professional committees, including the ICOMOS-UK Cultural Tourism Committee; the UK Heritage Research Group (UK-HERG); the National Trust for Scotland’s Archaeology and Economic & Community Development Advisory Panels and English Heritage’s Research Advisory Panel.
